The Dolphins’ play-making spine is locked in after five-eighth Kodi Nikorima agreed to a new two-year contract.
On the eve of his 200th match in the NRL, Nikorima has inked a deal that will make him a Dolphin until at least the end of the 2026 season.
Nikorima has been one of the shining lights of the Dolphins’ entrance to the NRL after returning to Brisbane from the Warriors to be part of the club’s inaugural team.
He has built a strong partnership with young halfback Isaiya Katoa, and was again at his dangerous best in Sunday’s golden-point win over his former club.
Dolphins’ çhief executive Terry Reader said Nikorima was an important chess piece for the club to nail down as they chase their maiden finals appearance.
"We are very pleased to have secured the services of Kodi for another two years.
"He has been consistently dangerous for us in the halves since joining the Dolphins last year.
“He and Isaiya Katoa have built a nice partnership in the halves
"With Isaiya already locked in for an extended term, the signing of Kodi gives us great stability in the spine, especially when you note that hooker Jeremy Marshall-King and fullback Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow are all committed to long-term contracts."
The Dolphins will continue their chase for a finals spot when they travel to Bundaberg this weekend to take on the Bulldogs.
