Fuller upgrades and extends to 2026

Trai Fuller is living his Dolphins’ fairy tale after securing a new contract with the NRL club.

Fuller has agreed to a two-year deal that elevates him to the Dolphins top 30 full-time squad and will cover the 2025 and 2026 seasons.

It is a wonderful reward for his scintillating play as primarily the back-up fullback for the Dolphins, that now has him entrenched in the club’s top 17 every week.

Fuller originally emerged from the small Queensland country town of Eidsvold, some 430 kilometres north of Brisbane.

He made his way to the Dolphins as a teenager after a stint with the Broncos under-20s team and became an immediate hit in the Queensland Cup with Redcliffe as part of the 2018 premiership team.

Fuller’s small stature has belied a strength that has seen him burst over for 52 tries in 88 matches with the Redcliffe Dolphins.

But his biggest thrill came when he was given a full-time train and trial contract with the new NRL club the Dolphins last year.

It took until round 25 for him to get his chance in the NRL, with Fuller scoring a trademark individual try on debut.

Fuller scores in debut to remember

In 2024 the 27-year-old has produced even greater form, appearing in nine matches for the Dolphins, excelling at fullback or as an impact player off the interchange bench.

Now Fuller will get to stay at his beloved Dolphins after inking the new two-year deal.

Dolphins’ chief executive Terry Reader said Fuller’s story was one for the believers.

Trai has done everything right to get himself into this position.

Terry Reader

“Last year he had limited opportunity in the NRL but demonstrated his talent and development by being named Player of the Year in the Queensland Cup competition.

“This season he has showed he belongs in the NRL and the new contract is the reward for that.

Fuller scores with a chip and chase

“He is the perfect example of one of the reasons the Dolphins were admitted as a team to the elite competition – so talented young players from the area didn’t have to leave Brisbane to make it in the NRL.

“He has made the Dolphins his home and now Trai gets to be part of the NRL journey for at least another two seasons.”

Fuller will come off the bench when the Dolphins continue their quest for a maiden NRL Finals appearance against the Gold Coast Titans at Suncorp Stadium on Sunday.
