Charity Partner Update: Mates4Mates

The Dolphins are excited to announce a new charity partnership with Mates4Mates to further support the Defence community in reconnecting and recovering.

As one of Australia’s leading veteran charities, Mates4Mates is committed to providing support services to veterans and families to help improve their mental, physical, and social health.

Understanding the important role sport and movement play in health and well-being, Mates4Mates incorporates these elements into its programs and activities to help those impacted by service.

"Mates4Mates do important work for people that have made huge sacrifices for our country both in their personal and professional lives,” said Terry Reader, Dolphins CEO. "The Dolphins are very pleased to enter this partnership to provide assistance for the wonderful support they provide the Defence community."

Emphasising the tremendous work Mates4Mates does in supporting veterans and their families, Reader highlighted the significance of their programs in fostering community, resilience, and support for those who have served our country.

Mates4Mates CEO Emma Whitehead also welcomed the new charity partnership and the opportunities it will provide the local veterans and families who access their services.

“Mates4Mates has three centres within South East Queensland to support veterans and families, and it’s important to us that we partner with organisations embedded in our local communities,” Emma said. “It’s wonderful to see the community impact the Dolphins have had since they were established in 2023.”

Emma further explained that partnerships like this are vital for sustaining and expanding the support services Mates4Mates offers.

The partnership will assist Mates4Mates in reaching a broader audience to generate more awareness and resources for veterans' health and wellbeing initiatives.

“Through charity partnerships like this one, Mates4Mates can continue supporting the health and well-being of veterans and family members in every way we can,” Emma added.

Mates4Mates will also join the Dolphins at their upcoming Suncorp Stadium home game on Sunday, 28 July, as the designated 5050 Charity Raffle partner for the match. This will help raise vital funds for veterans and families impacted by service.

Mates4Mates provides support services across South East Queensland, North Queensland, Tasmania, and the Northern Territory. To find out more about how Mates4Mates can support you, make the call that makes the difference on 1300 4 MATES (62 837) or visit mates4mates.org
