At the recent ANZAC Round fixture against the Knights, the Dolphins continued to build upon their relationship with RSL Queensland by raising funds for the Sandgate RSL Sub Branch. As the designated 50-50 Charity Raffle partner for the day, RSL Queensland volunteers were successful in raising a total sum of $22,831.
Roberta Stacey, the winning ticket holder was also in attendance and took home a prize of just over $11,000.
“My first thought when I saw an unknown number call was that it was spam… Every time I come to the game, I purchase a ticket as I know the funds are going to a well-deserved charity”, said a surprised Roberta.
RSL Queensland’s Senior Manager for Commemorations, Events and Corporate Partnerships, Douglas Waller, was pleased with the tremendous result and commented on the huge impact it will have on the Sandgate RSL Sub Branch.
Since it was established in 1923, the Sandgate RSL Sub Branch has been in continuous operation. With a particular focus on the prevention of mental health issues, they provide assistance and social connection to local ex-service and currently serving Australian Defence Force personnel.
