The Cancer Council Queensland has taken its place in Dolphins’ history after becoming the first official charity partner of the NRL club.
The Dolphins will provide a range of benefits to Cancer Council Queensland in a relationship that will promote the wonderful work the organization does.
Cancer Council Queensland is a not-for-profit organisation who relies on the generosity of the Queensland community to continue their lifesaving work. Together, we can prevent cancers, find more effective treatments, and give the highest level of support to all Queenslanders touched by cancer.
The Dolphins will provide Cancer Council Queensland opportunities to raise funds through the year, including as the beneficiary of the popular 50-50 Charity Raffle at the round-one season opener against the Cowboys on March 10.
The Dolphins will provide further avenues for Cancer Council Queensland to promote their messages through player appearances, the provision of merchandise and match tickets as well as exposure through media channel collaboration between the two organisations.
The CEO of Cancer Council Queensland Andrew Donne said the charity was proud to be the first official partner of the NRL club that is heading into just their second season in the NRL.
“Cancer Council Queensland is proud to be partnering with Dolphins NRL in 2024,” said Mr Donne.
“Our research shows that every year, more than 32,000 Queenslanders are diagnosed with cancer. That is one person every 17 minutes. Now, more than ever, we need help to make sure no Queenslander is left facing cancer alone.
“Through our partnership with the Dolphins we look forward to throwing our #PhinsUp whilst raising awareness and funding for our life-saving research, support services and prevention programs.”
Cancer Council Queensland volunteers will be present and visible at Suncorp Stadium as they assist in raising thousands of dollars for their organisation at the Dolphins-Cowboys game.
Dolphins’ CEO Terry Reader said the partnership with Cancer Council Queensland was a new beginning in the charity space for the Dolphins, who follow in decades of tradition of community support established by their parent company, the Dolphins Group.
“The Dolphins Group has a long history of supporting the community financially and now the Dolphins NRL club will continue that strong history,” said Mr Reader.
“We have been aiding the community from Brisbane through to Rockhampton since we were admitted to the NRL in October 2021 and now we have employed a full-time staff member to facilitate and grow these endeavours.
“It is fitting to announce the Cancer Council Queensland as our first official charity partner and are excited to be assisting them in the important work they do in our state.”
Cancer Council Queensland will be just the first official charity partner for the Dolphins, who will add further partnerships as the season progresses.
