A big week of competition wrapped up at Kayo Stadium with the staging of the finals of the Australian Secondary Schools Rugby League 18 Years National Championships.
There were three male finals played with NSW Combined Catholic Schools taking out the Under 18 Championship Final against NSW Combined High Colleges with a 40-10 win.
The winners put in a dominant performance from the get-go, racing out to a 28-0 lead at the halftime break.
In the Under 18 Pool A second v Pool B second final between Queensland Representative Secondary Schools and ACT, Queensland proved too strong with a 46-4 win, while in the Under 18 Pool A 3rd v Pool B 3rd match, NSW Combined Independent Schools claimed a 34-22 win against Combined Affiliated States.
Throughout the whole week, teams from NSW Combined High Schools, NSW Combined Catholic Colleges, NSW Combined Independent Schools, Queensland Secondary Schools, ACT and Combined Affiliated States participated.
The Under 18 Female Championship Final saw New South Wales Combined High Schools defeat Queensland Representative Secondary Schools 38-8 with the schoolgirls team also named.
At the conclusion of the day, the Australian Under 18 Schoolboys team was named to play in a Test later this year.
