Nikorima comes in for Marshall-King

Kodi Nikorima will become Dolphins’ player number 19 when he makes his debut for the club in Newcastle on Friday.

Nikorima will start at hooker against the Knights, replacing the suspended Jeremy Marshall-King.

Marshall-King accepted a two-week suspension for dangerous contact yesterday.

It means Nikorima will play his first NRL game for the Dolphins – and what a handy replacement he is.

The former Bronco, Warrior and Rabbitoh has played 160 NRL games and has represented New Zealand in 15 Tests.

He brings experience and also form after a solid game in the Hostplus Cup for the Central Capras last weekend.

Nikorima scored a try, set up two others and made two linebreaks as the Capras beat Tweed Heads 23-22.

Kurt Donoghoe will stay in his impact role off the bench.

The only other change to the Dolphins’ team that beat the Raiders is the injection of Ray Stone onto the bench.

Crowd favourite Stone missed the round-two win with bone bruising in his knee.

Mason Teague is the unlucky 18th man after making a solid NRL debut against the Raiders.

The match against the Knights will kick off at 5pm (Qld time) on Friday.
